This is episode 110, and this is your host, Latoya. And this is Equip the Next, where you get equipped to lead, disciple, and move the mission forward. So, do you want some more Bible study tips or rhythms to help you through the holidays? You don't want to miss this. This is Equip the Next, and um I'm just gonna go and dive on in because I know that I gave you guys some simple rhythms that I think work when you're in a busy season. But as we approach the holidays, I figured I would share some more Bible study rhythms for the holidays. Um, because why not? You could never have too many. Um, I also want to encourage you. I'm gonna be in a couple weeks, I'm gonna be answering some questions, some, you know, answering some questions live. So I would encourage you to um email me. I'll I don't have to say your name, so don't be embarrassed, don't be shy. I'm not gonna say your name unless you want me to. If you, you know, if you say don't share my name, I won't. But basically, um, if you have any questions, feel free to email me at hello at equiphetenext.com and they just might be shared. I might just answer them online or on air. So um I look forward to it again. Feel free, I'll give you a shout out unless you say don't, you know, I'll rather be anonymous, which is fine. But um I I pray and hope to do the QA series before the holiday, and then I will be taking a break because it's much needed. So, anyway, let's get on with it. So, Bible study rhythms for the holiday. If I had to share some, um, because before before we begin, the reason why I thought it was fitting to do this now is because a lot of people like to wait until New Year's and then they have all these New Year's resolutions. And you know how that is, and they crash after about what February, March. Don't focus on a New Year's resolution. Let's make a lifestyle, let's make a lifestyle change. So that's why I'm I want to share this now because I figure if you can do this now, it'll go into the new year. You'll be already ready. That was one of the reasons why we did our goals in um October, because I wanted, I knew, first of all, I knew people were busy. And so I wanted to, you know, get everybody before um they got too busy, but also because I wanted us to do it before we got into the whole New Year's resolution thing. Because that might, you might be in a completely different season. Your New Year's might start right now. So I wanted to focus on just building healthy life, a healthy lifestyle with God in mind. So I guess one of the New Year's, that was a gulp. I I um I didn't know I was gonna be that loud. Um, so anyway, one of the New Year's res or one of the rhythms I would suggest is to, of course, make it fun. Make your Bible study fun. Don't be like, oh gosh, I gotta read this Bible. Like, no, uh, God don't want that. Like, could you imagine somebody meeting you and they're like, oh, I really don't want to go to this, you know, stay home. How about that? So listen, make it fun. Some great things to make it fun. You can post reminder verses around the house, like little the little post-its. Post them so like where you go where you frequent, where you frequent. So, you know, in your in your closet or in your car or on your desk, wherever, just post little Bible verse reminders to kind of nudge you. That's a really great way to refresh, really great, great way to recharge, and you can always um rotate them out. Someone in our group, in the telegram, the private telegram group, had posted, you know, what was your favorite Bible verse and why, which was a really good um post. At the time, I I really don't have a favorite at this moment because I think for me it depends on the season that I'm in. Like at last year it was um Proverbs 119. This year it's like, I don't know if I have a favorite. I have favorite books right now, but nonetheless, if you have favorite verses, write them down on post-its, small, the small ones, and just post them different places. So when you see them, because you know you post them and you might forget. And then when you see them, you're like, oh man, you know, that's a great way to keep it fun when you're when you have a busy season, busy holiday season. Always remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. I know that sounds corny, but it is true. A lot of times we focus on material things. Did this person get this gift? Did this person do this? Or did I invite this person? Oh my gosh, I need to invite this. Oh my gosh, I need to make this meal. I have to have it this way. Listen, take a step back, rest in him, allow him to lead you, and remember he is the reason. That'll keep a lot of burdens and a lot of weight off a lot of people. If you remember that, you'll be you'll be set free, I pray. Another good fun thing would be to have a prayer board that you post. There's um there's sticky note. Uh so the post-it post-it company, I'm not um sponsored by them, but I do use it. But the post-it company, they have whiteboard that um a whiteboard sticker thingy that you can you can stick on a wall, and it's like a whiteboard. Um, if unless you have a whiteboard of your like already that you don't mind dedicating as like a prayer wall for the holidays, but that's a really good and fun idea. You know, have a prayer board praying for those you know and you love. I have one in my closet because it's away from like everybody else. And whenever someone either needs prayer, like a prayer request, or when someone drops on my heart and I'm like, okay, this person might need prayer, I'll just write their name or whatever on that board so I don't forget. And I have to go to my closet every day. So when I go to my closet, I see them, and that's a reminder to pray for them. Because you know, you might say, you know how we we do. Yeah, I'll pray for you. Forget as soon as you hang up the phone. You you're not praying for them for real. Not because you're mean, it's just you just forget. So this is a great way to remember to pray for those people during the holiday season. There's a lot of people who've lost loved ones. Maybe that's you. And maybe you need prayer, you know, and because of busy seasons, we can tend to forget that. We can forget that some people don't have loved ones. You know, some people um don't have anyone to share a holiday with. And so, you know, just be mindful of that, be conscious of that. Another great idea, these are just Bible study rhythms for the holidays. And even though you might feel like, well, it's not really technically a quote unquote Bible study rhythm, it kind of is because um you are leading by example and you are actually discipling people and you're praying for people, and you're be you're the light that they need to see, and that's in the word. So another great tip would be to gift someone a call. How many times do we think that? Oh, I I give them a material thing, okay, great. It's temporary though, but it's something about when you haven't heard from someone in a while and you call them or they call you. For me, it's like I'm picking back right where we left off. It's so refreshing, and so gifting someone a call is probably the best gift you can give. You know, a loved one. But also, I want you to do this. I want you to write down and reflect on your wins. We can always look back at our challenges and our regrets, and oh my gosh, I didn't get to do this, and oh, I had this goal and it didn't come to pass, and oh, this. But what about reflecting on your wins? How did the Lord show up? How were you able to be a blessing to someone? How was someone able to bless you? How did the Lord reveal himself to you this year? Reflect on the wins. I guess I should just say that it's more than just Bible study rhythms, it's biblical rhythms. These are biblical rhythms. Yeah, we'll change that. Biblical rhythms. Because they really are. It's it's walking in in love and walking in unity and walking in Christ. That's what people see. You know, you can quote all the scriptures you want, be a theologian all day and true and true, but if you don't live and walk it, it's really pointless in some regard. So listen, these were just some little nuggets to make this season feel, I guess, complete in a sense. You know what I'm saying? Like, because again, you might be busy because you know, family might come in, you gotta fly here, do this, and do that. But you can still make these, these are very simple and these are practical that you can literally apply right now, especially the prayer board or prayer wall one. And keep like every time you walk by that board. That's blessed me, I'm telling you. It's really blessed me. Listen, I want you again to send me your questions via email at hello at equipthenest.com. Send me those questions. Um, it doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's not weird, like something completely random, you know. But you can ask questions about me if you want to get to know me better. You can ask uh maybe a Bible question. I'll do my best to answer. Um, and who knows, maybe your question will be um discussed on this platform. I would definitely love to have you a part of that. And you know I have to give you a challenge. I can't let you go without giving you some kind of challenge. So your challenge for this for today, for this week, is to start one family or household rhythm this week. Maybe these rhythms I gave you kind of sparked an idea for a new rhythm that you can create and you can implement in your home. Start there. Start one family or household rhythm this week that you can apply. And I pray that if you have a family that they'll be on board with it. I think it would be a great idea to incorporate something new. So listen, thanks for listening to Equip the Next.
